STEM activities and lessons don’t have to cost an arm and a leg! We’ll discuss affordable ways to incorporate STEM in your afterschool program in this fun, hands-on workshop.

Using Discover 4-H Guides to Inspire and Connect with Youth
This workshop will introduce the free Discover 4-H Clubs curriculum, which provides six hands-on learning lessons in a do-reflect-apply format. These prepared lesson plans incorporate established learning outcomes and assist Afterschool personnel in becoming effective educators. In addition, prepared planning aids allow individuals to spend more time in conducting projects and less time planning them. Instructional techniques will include hands-on teaching activities from the curriculum and ideas on how to use the curriculum in afterschool programming.

STEM Under Cover: Introducing STEM through Everyday Activities
STEM has become a very important but intimidating element of afterschool programming. We all know how important it is to introduce youth to these topics and careers, but STEM can be intimidating for both youth and afterschool leaders. Come learn new ways to introduce STEM to students who are less likely to want to attend a traditional STEM class. We will also familiarize you with researched-based STEM curriculum available at no cost through USU Extension.
